Cublington Cricket Club – 2013 – Celebrating 150 years
Orchard Ground, Stewkley Road, CUBLINGTON, LU7 0LR

Cricket has been played in Cublington for over 150 years, with the first recorded game played in 1863 – a two day match versus Swanbourne reported in the Leighton Buzzard Observer!
The club as it is today was founded in 1955, and in 1997 a new pavilion was built with assistance from the NationaL Lottery & Sports Council. Our Orchard Ground facility is the home of cricket, tennis and local community events, and was extended in 2005 to include a fabulous score box.
Until the late 1990’s friendly fixtures were played on Saturdays or Sundays and it was not uncommon for the Captain to be found scouring the village to try and find a full complement of players around lunchtime on the day of the match.
Since then, Cublington Cricket Club has grown substantially, guided by four Core Values: Youth & Women’s cricket development – Community – Sustainability – Enjoyment
Today, our thriving, progressive, village club provides opportunities for all abilities and ages to enjoy the greatest summer game there is! Most home matches are played at superb facilities at Orchard Ground, where thanks to strong local support and successful grant applications, we play around 40
home fixtures a season.
The Youth section, started in 1998, is one of the strongest in the area with over nearly 100 young players receiving coaching from qualified coaches. Junior teams are entered in local Aylesbury competitions at Under 9,11, 13, 15, and 17 age groups. In recent years several of our young players have been selected to represent the County and our teams have regularly beaten town sides in Buckinghamshire.

Junior coaching and practices take place indoors (Jan-Apr) on Sunday afternoons and outdoors (Apr-Jul) at Orchard Ground. All young players aged 8 or above, girls and boys, are welcome. We also host All Stars – a summer ECB cricket festival for children aged between 6 and 8 years of age.
At senior level, Cublington runs 2 senior League teams on Saturdays as well as a Sunday side and an evolving Women’s team.
The Saturday 1st XI sits proudly in Division 4 of the Four Counties Cricket League, the Saturday 2nd XI play in Division 7 of the same league.  The Sunday friendly side forms the bedrock of our social (but competitive) cricket, playing against many local sides.
The Club is run by dedicated volunteers and we warmly welcome anyone from Cublington and the surrounding villages and towns who would like to join the club as a playing, non-playing, junior or senior member.
