The Famous Cublington Village Fete

The annual Cublington village fete is set in the delightful gardens of the local rectory which has a traditional charm that attracts visitors from all over the county. One might half expect to find Miss Marple nosing around in the flower beds looking for a clue to solve her latest case, but thankfully not many fete goers or helpers have been struck down recently.

We still get a good turn out on the 3rd Saturday in June every year. Attractions vary, but we invariably have a brass or silver band, Smarty Arty for the children and loads of stalls including Tombola and White Elephant. Refreshments range from the Pimms stall to a nice cup of tea. Visitors can wander round or just sit in the sun (hopefully) and soak up the atmosphere.

You might even get a glimpse of the Lesser Spotted Morris Dancers if you're very lucky - they were back again last year by popular request. Everyone connected with the Fete has a good time, and we do make a profit - nearly £3000 last year - which goes back to the village, helping St Nicholas Church and the Orchard Ground facilities for example.

A small army of volunteers come together to help plan and organise this event, running stalls or generally lifting and moving on the day of the Fete.
