Cublington won the toss and decided to field first.

Long Marston got off to a steady start, their first pairing only losing 1 wicket – a fine catch taken by Jonathan Pownall. Runs and wickets were then taken at regular intervals with the match looking fairly well balanced. But Cublington were able to hold the run rate back with some excellent all round fielding, including a direct hit run out from Jack Rodnight, and some excellent bowling – with again Jack Rodnight at one point being on a hatrick and his bowling partner James Rickard only conceding 2 runs from his 2 overs. Our final bowling pairing of Jack Rushmere and William Hughes only gave away 2 extras in their 4 overs and also took 1 wicket. Long Marston finished on a nett score of 230 for 8.

So a focused batting performance was required and that’s exactly what Cublington delivered. Jack Rushmere got us off to a flying start scoring 20. Each pairing after that scored well and managed to keep their wickets intact, with some excellent calling and running between the wickets, Cublinton lost only 4 wickets during the whole innings – with no run outs. Jack Simmonds helped secure the well deserved victory by hitting an unbeaten 8 at the end.

Cublington finished on a nett score of 282 for 4. In all a very professional performance.
