Ley Hill played host to Cublington and on a glorious Sunday morning, won the toss and elected to bat. A fine performance in the field restricted the home side to 201 for 8 as wickets fell steadily throughout the innings. Cublington fielding and bowling was of a consistently high standard bringing first wickets of the season for Rosie Reilly and Toby Walls, and also including a direct hit run out from Calum Lawson. Kit Gordon-Stuart returned remarkable figures of 2 overs, 2 maidens, 1-0 but best bowling honours went to William Kirkup with 2 overs, 2-5, along with a nice catch at mid off for good measure.
In reply Cublington posted 262 for 7 to claim their first win in the Bucks County Board league. Calum Lawson opened the batting in aggressive style, plundering 21 not out from the opening four overs to claim the best batting prize with some blistering shots. Kit Gordon-Stuart hit some cultured boundaries in making 11 and throughout the order we took runs where we could, often taking on the fielders and applying good running and calling technique.
Thanks go to Shaun Walls for scoring, all the parents for making the trip and for buying me a drink in the Swan afterwards! You can follow our progress in the Bucks County Board League U11 Conference 3 on the following website;
